Baby Ben

Mrs. Phiri & Ben
Baby Ben seen here with Mrs P was found  in the bush close to the scene of a minibus accident last Saturday 24th November, on a notorious stretch of road on the way to Lilongwe.  Nearby to him was the body of a woman who, it can only be presumed, was his mother.  Her body remains unclaimed and Ben, named by the hospital where he spent three or four days being treated for superficial wounds, now resides with us.

A front page article in the Malawi Times newspaper has already brought forward offers of adoption should the need arise.

Chitsanzo

To all who couldn't help but fall in love with our mate Chtisanzo.

For the past three days Chtisanzo's gogo has been staying in our "Transition Hut" - The days she has spent with her grandson Chtisanzo. As we all walked around the grounds over this time - if he spotted you that well known "Hiya" rang out - but he wasn't tempted  to leave his gogo and join his Open Arms friends. He was happy in her arms - and she too was delighted to be with him.

This morning at 8 am Chtisanzo headed off in the Hilux with his gogo and Mrs. Phiri back to his home in Chileka. His friends at Harrogate House sang (albeit badly) "So long, Farewell but not forever". It was an impromptu performance. As were the hugs he received from each of them.

Needless to say that Open Arms will continue to support him in many ways - and he will receive regular visits. To know that this little boy who lost his mother, has been cared for here and is now with family - being loved with everything they have - makes it all worthwhile.

Another special day at Open Arms Infant Home
