New Hope for Chifuniro

Two-day old Chifuniro Talandira arrived at Open Arms Mangochi this week, weighing a healthy 3.5kgs, and already he has stolen the hearts of our house mothers.

Being so young, Chifuniro still needs round the clock care, but, as his mother struggles with mental health issues, sadly she is unable to provide this for him. Having previously lost her first born son, as she couldn’t offer him the essential care he needed, Chifuniro’s mother knew that this time she needed to accept help for her new baby. Swaddled in a blanket and wearing a blue woollen hat, Chifuniro was brought in by his grandmother, along with a local clinician. After being admitted, we were relieved to see that he was feeding well, he was alert and appeared to be in good health.

At Mangochi Infant Home, Chifuniro will receive regular nourishment, as well as the love and security he deserves, and we are confident that he will continue to flourish over the coming weeks.
