Boyce came to Open Arms in November 2011. He arrived at just 6 months old and had lost his mother, contacted chicken pox and was only a gram or two above his birth weight. His father, who lived in a rural village 60km from Blantyre, sought help because he, like many other subsistence farming families, was struggling to cope financially and had three older children to care for.
When I saw the role become available at Open Arms I knew this was my chance to make a tangible difference to real people’s lives, by developing a communications strategy that will connect us with even more supporters, enabling us to provide sustainable support to even more children, thereby developing a new generation of healthy, well-balanced and educated young people, who in turn will make a difference to the economic future of Malawi.
