Volunteer Fundraising Evening Raises £925

We are delighted that one of our previous volunteers has been fundraising for Open Arms Malawi. Zoe Morrison, who volunteered in Mangochi in 2012 has raised over £3,111 since she returned to the UK. The most recent event raised £925; Zoe’s sister Nina tells us how;

“I would just like to tell you about a very kind local business man called Rama Nanda. My sister, Zoe Morrison spent 8 weeks in Mangochi in September last year. Her stories of all the children touched a lot of peoples hearts so we decided to hold a charity curry night in our local pub, The Reindeer.

Rama is the chef & landlord of The Reindeer & we sold tickets at £10 per person with the view of giving £4 – £5 per ticket to Rama to cover the costs for food, staff etc. We also had a raffle with loads of fab prizes donated locally. We managed to raise £925 in total from ticket sales & the raffle.

Rama has very kindly decided that he would like ALL money donated to your charity and he will personally cover the costs for the food he so kindly cooked. So the money will go onto Zoe’s just giving page in the next couple of days. I’m sure it will be used in the best possible way.”

If you’re a volunteer from previous years – we’d love to hear from you! Get in touch to see how we can help you to fundraise and help spread the word about Open Arms Malawi!
