Support Open Arms through a six-day bicycle ride through the spectacular landscape of Malawi. On your journey, not only will you experience rural Malawi but you will have a chance to visit some of our projects.
“I cannot say a lot else other than excellent all round! If I could go again tomorrow I would!”
A 375km cycle taking place from 25th September - 4th October 2020, Cycle Malawi is a unique opportunity to learn about the history and culture of one of Africa’s most beautiful countries whilst challenging yourself physically. With our challenge partners, Cycle Challenges, participants will be supported by an expert team from step one right until the finish line.
Although the cycle is by no means easy, you’ll have some much-needed rest and relaxation with the activities above. You’ll also have the company of your fellow cyclists with whom you will share some of the most incredible memories of your life.
You will also be supported by Open Arms and Classic Challenges every step of the way. After registering, we will give you your challenge pack, training plans, fundraising ideas, travel information and much more. With your accommodation (hotels & lodges), transfers, bicycles, a group doctor, experienced guides, support staff, water and all meals provided, you really will be well looked after.
But most of all you will be making a real difference to some of the most vulnerable children in the world. You will cross the finish line at our Blantyre infant home where you will be enthusiastically greeted by the mothers and children who you have fundraised for. You will complete this once in a lifetime journey with the knowledge that none of the work at our infant homes and nurseries would be possible without the generosity of people like you.

The Trip of a Lifetime
““It was the most humbling and inspiring trip I had. The friendly and helpful staff, good company of fellow riders, the natural scenery, the warmth of local people and the visits to infant homes made the whole trip very enjoyable and memorable. Felt well looked after and relaxed throughout””
Why you should take part
Over a ten-day trip (with six days of cycling), you will experience the magnitude and versatility of the Malawian landscape. Passing through rural villages, small towns, and experiencing the vast Lake Malawi which occupies 15% of the country, cyclists will get a taste of everything Malawi has to offer. With a sunrise boat safari, a trip to the old colonial city of Zomba, a visit to Liwonde National Park and breathtaking views at every corner, you’ll never want to leave.
Participants will also be able to see some of our projects hands-on, visiting both of our infant homes during your trip. The funds which you raise will go to these projects so these visits offer a great chance to see how your hard work will be supporting some of those who need it most. This could be your chance to start 2020 by doing something completely new.
