The first of Open Arms’ Infant Homes opened its doors in 1995 in Blantyre.
we are managed by two boards of trustees, one in Malawi and one in the United Kingdom, where Open Arms is established as a registered charity.
In Malawi we have a team of 57 care givers and 29 support staff who work tirelessly to help the children of Open Arms in both Blantyre and Mangochi. They are joined by many local and International volunteers with medical and caring backgrounds, who give their time and expertise for free.
The homes are run by Director Charlie McCaulder, Senior Matron Rose Phiri and also Deputy Matrons Eniffer Chilunga (Blantyre) and Chiku Nyanyaliwa (Mangochi). Helen and Rashid, our administrators help to keep the home running smoothly.
The management team is answerable to the local board of trustees which is properly incorporated in Malawi under the “Trustees Act”. It is also a registered NGO in Malawi.
Open Arms Malawi is registered as a charity in the UK and in the USA. See how you can get involved. If you are in the USA see how you can get involved with Open Arms USA.
