“Volunteering at Open Arms was a defining moment in my life. If I had to summarise it in a few words they would be: 'fun, amazing, eye opening, beautiful, madness, best thing I ever did'” - Sharon, London

Two of our volunteers, Becky and Graeme were volunteering in Malawi at the same time.
Volunteer group experience 2013
Johnson & Johnson has supported Open Arms for many years. Have a look at this short clip of their visit in 2013.
For me, it started, rather unglamorously, in Sainsbury’s in Bath in 2007, packing up people’s shopping into those bright orange bags. The next year I arrived in Blantyre on a three week trip with Kingswood School.
In 2007 I made my first trip with my daughter, and in July I will return for my eighth visit. Each time it is like going home. I am always amazed at the country which has so much poverty but is so rich in its warmth and generosity to mankind.
You will develop new skills, expand your knowledge and make a significant contribution to improving the lives some of the most vulnerable children in the world. You will meet new people, make new friends and be part of a dedicated team of volunteers.
