We no longer have individual volunteer opportunities in Malawi, but now offer a unique opportunity to join the Open Arms team on one of our volunteer trips. These week long trips run twice a year. Join in an unforgettable journey that blends hands-on community work, cultural immersion, and a safari adventure, all while making a real difference for vulnerable children and families.

Since transitioning our work into community-based care, our volunteer opportunities have grown and adapted as well. These experiences are designed to give you the most meaningful time as a volunteer while helping Open Arms benefit from your support.
Our volunteer trips will run twice a year. Our July 2026 trip is now full but we are now taking enquiries for our October 2026 trip. They are open to all adults who want to make a difference.
You’ll spend time in both Blantyre and Mangochi, visiting the families supported by Open Arms and taking part in community outreach projects, helping with the running of a busy NGO. Volunteers will:
You’ll be accompanied by a member of our team and a driver throughout the trip, with small group visits to families we work with to create a truly personal experience.
