FAQs

WHAT CURRENCY CAN I DONATE?

You can donate any coins or notes, foreign or British, in current circulation or old currency.

HOW MUCH OF MY DONATION GOES TO OPEN ARMS MALAWI?

Leftovercurrency.com donates the complete exchange value plus an extra 5% to Open Arms Malawi.  There are no fees or commission.  If you donate directly through leftovercurrency.com you will receive a confirmation email, containing the amount donated and this information will be forwarded on to Open Arms Malawi.

DO I HAVE TO SORT AND COUNT MY CURRENCY BEFORE SENDING IT?

You can but you don’t have to.  It will be sorted and counted free of charge if you send it directly to Leftovercurrency.com or if you send/deliver it directly to our Open Arms Malawi office. You can send multiple currencies together.

HOW DO I PACKAGE MY CURRENCY?

If sending in the post please watch this video on how to package your currency. Leftover Currency: How to Package and Post Your Currency - YouTube

DO I NEED TO PAY POSTAGE?

We recommend using a recorded/tracked delivery service such as 2nd Class Royal Mail signed for.  If you are sending from the UK and sending directly to leftovercurrency.com they may be able to refund postage costs in certain circumstances:

For parcels under 2KG: If the value is £30 or more they will refund the whole cost (£4.69). If the value is under £30 they will refund half the postage (£2.35), however these refunds will be added to the exchange value sent to Open Arms Malawi and will not be refunded to individuals.

For parcels over 2kg please contact leftovercurrency.com and they will send you a free UPS label.  If the value is under £50 half the price of postage will be deducted from the exchange value paid to Open Arms Malawi, but no cost will be involved for the sender.

Please contact them prior to sending to confirm this.

Together we can do more!

Why not ask friends, family or colleagues if they have spare currency lying around too and send it in together. What about your school, workplace or community groups? Could you all club together and see how much you can collect? You’ll be amazed at how the little amounts add up. The more you can collect, the more children we can help!

Your donation will help children in Malawi grow up healthy with the love of a family
