We need your help to raise £6,525 to give safe and local access to nursery and a daily meal to 411 children in rural Malawi. Donate through https://donate.thebiggive.org.... from 1st December and your donation will be doubled.
World Bank data shows 84% of rural Malawians face food insecurity; stunting affects 54% of toddlers and 5% of children die before their 5th birthday, 20% due to malnutrition. Stunted children have poorer development, achieve less at school and have poorer health and survival rates. Preschool education is unfunded by the government. Only 30% of children complete primary school: girls are often removed to look after pre-school siblings or help their parents.
To raise £6,525 in eight days from 1st December 2020 to secure nursery education and good nutrition for 411 five year olds in Malawi.
We’ve created local partnerships to make early years education accessible to children at risk supporting the Malawi Early Childhood Development strategy. By giving basic monitoring, reducing the incidence of stunting and improving the chances of completing primary education we are improving the life outcomes of children. Your funding will directly support under fives in these schools by providing a teacher, food and ongoing support and monitoring in partnership with the traditional authorities.
