Annie Lennox Visits Open Arms Malawi

In May 2011 Annie Lennox visited Malawi as a special envoy for the Scottish Parliament, and came to visit us at Open Arms!

She spent time getting to know the ladies and babies, and hearing what Open Arms is all about.

She wasted no time in getting to know the children, in fact as soon as she arrived in Harrogate House Joseph took her by the hand and given a guided tour.

“Children are so open. At first, they are usually pretty shy, but this little one is quite special,” Annie said about Joe.

She followed her tour of Harrogate House with a visit to Rosemarie’s House, and met the children there. Within minutes they were proudly show her their rooms and she soon found herself sitting on their beds surrounded by eager faces listening as she gave an impromptu numeracy and English Lesson.

Following her visit to Open Arms, Annie was so impressed by what she saw and touched by the children that she met, that she has chosen to support Open Arms and has provided funds for the fifth foster house “Annie’s House”.

It seems appropriate that Joe will move into Annie’s house, having hit the headlines with the star, and we hope that will be very soon!
