Demonstrating Cooking with Solar Energy

One of our first volunteers for the year is Eller Everett, a former student of Queen Elizabeth School of Kirby Lonsdale who have strong links with Tsekwe House.

After being involved with fundraising at school she wanted to come and experience Malawi and Open Arms for herself. Her family has a strong background in permaculture and solar energy. She demonstrated her skills in Mangochi to our staff there. As you can see from the picture, the cooker is constructed from cardboard and kitchen foil. To their amazement she cooked a large pot of rice and even a banana cake!!
