Make a Difference in 2023!

We are so grateful to the incredible people who take on all sorts of challenges to fundraise for Open Arms.

Last financial year, nearly £20,000 was raised through the awe-inspiring and creative fundraising efforts of our wonderful supporters.

From physical challenges, quizzes, bake sales, birthday fundraisers and garden parties, YOU have all shown us that anyone can fundraise in any way, shape or form.

Check out just a few of these fabulous fundraising achievements below.

What are you inspired to do this year that will not only challenge you but build brighter futures for Malawi's vulnerable children?

Hands scribbling down fundraising ideas

Running for Open Arms Malawi in 2022 was the most heart warming thing I have done.

“Having visited Open Arms in Malawi in 2019, I just knew this was my chosen charity. The work Open Arms does for babies and children of Malawi is so important, and I watch in awe as the team take into care the most vulnerable, nourish and watch them flourish into beautiful children. Fundraising is not always easy, and in today's society we all have to count the pennies. But there are many ways to raise funds from quiz nights, raffles to virtual runs - and do not undervalue the power of social media. Support from Open Arms Malawi team is the cherry on the cake...” - Bev Shepherd - Great North Run participant

Going the extra mile for Malawi!

Several people took on physical challenges last year to raise money for Open Arms - from half marathons to ultra marathons, and crazy climbs to mountain races! Some also fundraised in wonderfully creative ways...

Bev not only trained for and ran the Great North Run in 2022, but crocheted a beautiful blanket and baked cupcakes to offer up as a prize for anyone who sponsored her run.

Similarly, Emma ran a 100km ultra marathon in France. She raised a wonderful 500 Euros by running a raffle, asking people to guess her finishing time in exchange for a donation to Open Arms.

Every year, we offer entry tokens to various challenge events such as Great North Run, The Big Half, Ride London and Edinburgh Marathon. Check out what's currently on offer here

Or you can select Open Arms as your chosen charity no matter what physical challenge you take on!

Fundraise YOUR way

In September 2022, Adam took it upon himself to complete the Salomon Ring of Steall Skyrace - a mountain race, involving 29km of trail running and 2,500m of climbing in the Scottish highlands. Adam braved scrambling along mountain ridges with steep ascents, traverses and descents on technical and challenging terrain - all in support of Open Arms! He raised a fantastic £840 - thank you Adam!

Creative Communities!

We're always inspired by the way communities come together to create their own fundraising initiatives.

Last year, a Year 3 class in a Leicester Primary School came up with the brilliant idea of growing and selling their own plants, not only helping the environment but raising a fabulous £120. A wonderful project!

A local Junior Church group also worked hard to advertise, bake for and run a cake stall, selling lots of yummy treats and raising nearly £200 for Open Arms!
